Laser Printer Descriptions

Maplewood for DOS and some portions of Maplewood for Windows require DOS Printer Descriptions in order to print properly on Laser printers.

File, Printer Descriptions .

Use Modify Printer Settings and choose Undefined or overwrite a no longer needed printer description. Then a name for the description such as Portrait must be entered and the codes listed below are entered.

Once the Printer Description has been set up it must be selected using either

If Maplewood Security is turned on (i.e. staff members log-in to Maplewood with a password) each user can use a different Printer Description, if it is not turned on then all users will print with the currently selected Printer Description. The following short forms are used in this Help Sheet for use in DOS Report Builder Layouts: OPL= overall page length, OPW = overall page width, LPI = lines per inch.

Notes:

a) l (lower case L) vs. 1 (number one) e.g. 1l0o = one l zero o

b) o (lower case letter O) vs. 0 (number zero)

c) If text is printing too high up on the page; increase the number before the small e in the Leader e.g. 6e to 7e etc. to increase the top margin.

d) If text is printing too low down on the page reduce the number before the small e in the Leader e.g. 19e to 18e etc. to reduce the top margin.

e) To increase the left margin by 1/4" add {27}&a3L to the end of the Leader
