| Manitoba EIS: Importing MET numbers into Maplewood |
The MET student number is uniquely and permanently assigned to a student. Regardless of whether a student moves from one place to another or legally changes vital statistics information, the MET student number remains valid and does not change. New students to the Manitoba education system will be assigned a MET student number shortly after a file is received by MET.
If students do not already have a MET number, your division office (if applicable) will receive the new MET numbers from the department after the Student Enrolment file has been processed. After the Division office imports these MET numbers into their EIS Collection software, they can use their EIS Collection software to create a separate file for each of their schools containing the MET numbers of their students.
To import the file containing the MET numbers,
Sometimes a student is in the file but cannot be found in Maplewood by matching the birthdate, surname, and given names. Check to see if any students were missed by choosing Reports, Department Data Transfers, Import Department File, Print Students Missed by MET File Import. You can either enter the MET number directly into the student's record or you can change the incorrect birthdate, surname or given name data in the student's record and then redo the import.
Note: Only the MET # is changed in Maplewood. Please contact the province’s Student Records Unit if the student’s name or birthdate is incorrect in EIS.
