Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSM) let students focus on a career path that matches their skills and interests while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students will receive the SHSM's seal on their diploma when they
complete a specific bundle of 8-10 courses in the student's selected field
earn valuable industry certifications including first aid and CPR qualifications
gain important skills on the job with employers.
Schools who have students enrolled in a SHSM Program are required to report this information to the ministry. Below is a sample of the required areas of reporting, how this report can be produced in Maplewood, and what Maplewood is looking for to populate this information.
This report option can be found under Reports, Annual Action Plan

Choose the High Skills Major Report option, the Cohort Determination that you would like and the Report Dates desired. Select the Create button to generate the report.
Selecting the View option will display a copy of the printed report.
Selecting the Details option will allow the user to print the students that are being included in each section of the report.
Below is a sample of the report, and description of how each section is populated.

The program will look at the student transcript to determine all credits attempted for the Semester (Semester 1 = Completion Date from September to February of the current school year; Semester 2 Completion date from March to June of the current school year). Includes failed and withdrawn courses. Information is broken down by semester, age and gender.

Student who have completed all SHSM requirements (this includes required Certification and Training; Experiential Learning and Exploration Activities; 'Reach Ahead' activities; and Ontario Skills Passport. This information can be access through Students, History tab, Cert/Train button) within the same month of the First Diploma being granted (Students, History tab, Edit, Diplomas, First). The SHSM Completion date is currently being calculated by Maplewood internally. However an upcoming enhancement will enable users to enter this information. Information is broken down by semester, age and gender.
