The implementation of Violent Incident Reporting was mandated to be in place in schools for September 1, 2011. There is no change to the current reporting process to OnSIS. Violent Incidents that result in suspension or expulsion are currently being sent to OnSIS (via the Suspension/Expulsion submission). The purpose of this new collection is to also track those violent incidents that have not resulted in a suspension or expulsion (and those violent incidents that are not committed by a student that is attending the school). A violent incident is defined as the occurrence of any one of the following or the occurrence of a combination of any of the following:
possessing a weapon, including possessing a firearm
physical assault causing bodily harm requiring medical attention
sexual assault
robbery
using a weapon to cause or to threaten bodily harm to another person
extortion
hate and/or bias-motivated occurrences
