The files for scheduling are stored in a separate directory within your Maplewood files. Each year, when you are ready to start scheduling, you must initialize the process through Scheduling, Transfer to New Year, Initialize Scheduling.
The Initialize Scheduling screen has a new check box for excluding Next Year Only students from any changes in the Choices area.
Within Initialize Scheduling, you will find these options:
1. Progression of Grades: Specify the progression of grades from one year to the next. Since the Initialize Scheduling operation assigns a grade one higher than this year's grade for next year's grade, make sure that the progression of grades is correct.
2. Highest Grade: The highest grade in your school must be entered. All students currently in this grade or higher will have their enrolment status changed to This Year Only (only at your school this year - not involved in scheduling for next year). Since these students are leaving your school, they will need a retirement date. Specify a Retirement/Transfer Date for these non-returning students.
3. Retirement Transfer Date: The last year students whose status was changed to This Year Only (above #2) will be assigned a retirement date. Students that already have an existing This Year Only students with an existing retirement date will not be affected with this function.
4. Student Course Choices
Note: If some of the students' choices were entered before initializing scheduling, it may be easier to erase all choices rather than manually delete each choice for each student who still has last year's choices recorded.
