Maplewood connectEd Library System

To be able to install the Library OPAC site through Maplewood connectEd, the library data must be converted to SQL. Please contact Maplewood for details.

To use the Library circulation and catalogue features through Maplewood connectEd, the library data must be converted to SQL, and the individual users must be granted the appropriate rights to library through the Maplewood connectEd Security Administration program.

Once Library has been converted to SQL (and users have been given access to Library), no additional installation is required to access the circulation and catalogue features. A separate installation is required for the OPAC site, since it is a separate site.

Maplewood Student and Staff Pictures

Schools can generate files containing whatever information the school photographer requires (e.g. name, grade, homeroom, student letters). Maplewood support staff can assist schools in creating this file.

Notes: To ensure the best possible performance we recommend using JPG or GIF.

Images regardless of their original size will be proportionately shrunk to 240 X 320 as they are uploaded to the Enterprise DB and any images already in the DB will also be proportionately shrunk to 240 X 320. They will also converted to JPG with a 70% image quality.

This will eliminate any risk of potential distortion caused by the system shrinking the image to fit. Larger photographs could also adversely affect system performance wherever they are displayed - this affects both Windows and Web applications. Student Pictures Student pictures will display in students records in the admin system if they are BMP, GIF or JPG. BMP images should be 16 bit colour or higher.

Staff Pictures

Staff pictures will display in student records in the admin system if they are BMP, JPG or GIF. BMP images should be 16 bit colour or higher.

Staff pictures will display and print in Report Builder reports if they are BMP or GIF.

Staff records can also include pictures. Each staff member has a 2-letter code in the staff record. If you take pictures of your staff members, then the photo file must be named using the 2-letter code (e.g. AB.GIF).

Parent/Guardian Pictures

Parent/Guardian pictures will display in students records in the admin system if they are BMP, JPG or GIF. BMP images should be 16 bit colour or higher.

Parent/Guardian pictures will display and print in Report Builder reports if they are BMP, JPG or GIF.

Each parent/guardian uses the student's 3-letter code plus M for mother, F for father or G for guardian. (e.g. ABCG.GIF). If the parent/guardian has more than one child in the school, then there will need to be an equal number of parent/guardian pictures to match (e.g. A set of parents has 2 children named Bobby and Jane, there will need to be 2 pictures for the mother and two pictures for the father - BBBF.gif for Bobby's father and JJBF.gif for Jane's father; then BBBM.gif for Bobby's mother and JJBM.gif for Jane's mother). Administration System Requirements and Filename Conventions for all Maplewood Products The maximum total length for the Maplewood data path is 60 characters. This means that the UNC path to get to the data for each school must be 60 characters or less. It may be necessary to create a share that is closer to the actual data location (i.e. E:\Data\Administration\Maplewood\Schools\School1 could be shared at Maplewood instead of Data).

Data paths defined in the Maplewood system must use UNC paths, not drive letters.
