Often times you may want to place a mark/grade in one marking/grading column to represent an average of marks/grades from the other columns. The marks/grades feature of the administration system provides a feature for you to calculate student averages. To do this you will need to specify a formula.
Example
You may want the final mark, in marking/grading column 6, to be calculated from the marks/grades in marking/grading columns 4 and 5. The mark/grade in marking/grading column 4 may be worth 70% of the final mark/grade and the mark/grade in marking/grading column 5 may be worth 30% of the final mark.
First, enter the marking/grading column where the calculated mark/grade will be placed (e.g. 6). And then the coefficient for each of the other 5 marking/grading columns (i.e. the amount each mark/grade is to be multiplied by) must be entered. Using the same example, Mark/Grade 1 (marking/grading column 1), Mark/Grade 2, and Mark/Grade 3 will be multiplied by 0 to indicate that they will not be used in the calculation. Mark/Grade 4 will be multiplied by 70 and Mark/Grade 5 will be multiplied by 30. The number to be divided into the sum of the marks/grades must also be entered. This value is usually the sum of the numbers entered in the numerator (e.g. 70 + 30) but does not necessarily need to be.
If a student had a mark/grade of 80 in marking/grading column 4 and a mark/grade of 60 in marking/grading column 5, the resulting mark/grade in marking/grading column 6 would be:
Mk.6 = 0 + 0 + 0 + 70(80) + 30(60) = 5600 + 1800 = 74 100
