What is the K212 Finance Application?

 

K212 Finance is a web based application designed for School Boards. It allows them to conduct various finance operations, including: encumbrance accounting, managing vendor tenders and payments, and managing the collection of receivables. The application offers extensive search and reporting capabilities, including the tools to meet the Ministry of Educations mandatory reporting requirements.

This guide provides information about the general workings of the K212 Finance Application, such as important information on how to get started, the basics of the K212 Finance Application, as well as the common processes and module functionality.

 

This guide is intended to assist users in completing daily financial tasks. If further reference to the K212 Finance Application is required, a more descriptive explanation is available in the Online Help files of the K212 Finance Application. Basic GUI Terminology

 

Before using the K212 Finance Application, it is important for the user to be familiar with the specifics of the GUI environment and how to perform basic tasks, such as using a menu or selecting an item. Understanding the following generic terms will allow the user to use the K212 Finance Application, with more ease:

 

Menu- A list that appears on the left hand side of the application that consists of tabs, modules and sub-modules.

 

Click- Quickly press and release a mouse button while the mouse pointer is on a particular item.

 

Select- Select an item and initiate the action associated with the item. Examples include: choosing a menu item or clicking on a selection box.

 

Deselect- Turn off a selected feature. Examples include: clicking on a selection box to remove the check mark.

 

Drag- Move the mouse while holding down the left mouse button.

 

Highlight- Hold the left mouse button down and drag the mouse to highlight information.

 

Enter- Use the Enter key to tab through fields.

 

Tab- Use the Tab key to tab through fields.

 

Copy- Right click on the mouse, on the highlighted information and select Copy or use the Ctrl + C keys.

 

Hyperlink- A hyperlink will be coloured in blue and underlined. To bring you to the associated hyperlink information, Press Ctrl and click on the hyperlink with the mouse.

 

Field- An area where you click and are be able to fill out information corresponding to the field name.

 

Grid- Similar to a table, a grid has rows and columns with information in each section relating to names provided at the top of the corresponding column.

 

Chevron- An arrow that allows information to expand or collapse  when clicked. 

 

Radio Button- A button that allows the user to choose only one option from a set of alternatives.

 

Selection Box- A button that allows the user to choose as many options as required to fit the necessary criteria.
