The scheduling Classes File contains all the information on the master timetable. Choose Scheduling, Rebuild Classes, Assign All New Classes to erase the scheduling Classes File so that you can build a new master timetable for next year. When user selects Assign All New Classes in scheduling, there is a prompt to create a snapshot. If the user says Yes to this question, the Snapshot interface appears where the user selects the snapshot (1 to 9) and then clicks Save. If the user says No, an additional question will appear to confirm that the user wants to really clear out all of the next year's classes. These additional steps are in place to prevent users from accidentally losing all of their next year's classes.
Use the Assign All New Classes to indicate the number of classes for each course that is available for the students' timetables. A class is a specific course taken by a group of students at the same time with the same teacher. For example, two different groups of students could be taking the FRENCH7 course.
To distinguish between the two groups of students, the course is assigned two classes, called FRENCH7a and FRENCH7b. A section letter (e.g. a, b) is affixed to a course code to differentiate between the classes.
Within Assign All New Classes, each course in the Courses File will be presented for the entry of the number of classes. Once you have entered a number, the classes for that course will be displayed one at a time for the following:
the entry of the homeroom number of the students who will be taking the class.
the teacher.
the room where class will be taught.
the number of periods in the school's cycle in which it will be taught (elementary only - information on the numbers of single/double/triple periods).
the maximum number of periods in which it is to be taught in each day of the cycle
