How to Activate/Deactivate a G/L

 

G/L accounts that have no pre-commitment and/or commitment, balances may be flagged as Deactivated; any data entry to the account will be prohibited. Deactivated G/L accounts may be reactivated.

 

Use the following steps to activate or deactivate a G/L:

 

1. Click on the Business tab, click General Ledger, and select G/L Account Management.

 

Note: The Session Accounting Year field will display the current year the user is signed in to.

 

2. If known, enter the Account Number.

 

 

3. Click on the Search button. The G/L account will be retrieved in the grid.

 

Note: If necessary, perform an advanced search. Refer to Advanced Search for more information on this section.

 

 

4. Click on the Action drop-down menu beside the corresponding G/L account number and select Activate or Deactivate.

 

NoteActivate action will be available when G/L account is not active (the  Active status check box is not selected). Deactivate action will be available when G/L account is active (the  Active status check box is selected).

 

G/L Accounts with balances in Pre-Commitment and Commitment fields cannot be deactivated and the option will not display in the Action drop-down menu.

5. Enter a note in the Note field.

 

                    

 

          6. Click on the OK button to complete the process or click on the Cancel button to cancel the Activate or Deactivate process.
