How to Create a Dictionary Item

 

Use the following steps to create a dictionary item:

 

1. Click on the Business tab, click General Ledger, and select G/L Dictionary Editor.

 

2. In the G/L Dictionary Editor screen, click on the any of the G/L elements or Alias elements. The selected option will highlight in blue and the New button will become available.

 

 

3. Click on the New button.

 

4. In the Create new view? dialog box, click on the OK button to continue or click on the Cancel button to return to the G/L Dictionary Editor.

 

 

5. In the Item Details section, enter the Code.

 

Note: The G/L or alias and element will display. Based on the selected element the length required in the Code field will display.

 

 

 

6. If applicable, enter a Description.

 

7. If applicable, enter an Abbreviation.

 

8. If applicable, in the G/L to Alias Relationships section, click on the Alias Element drop-down menu to select an option. 

 

9. If applicable, click on the Alias Code drop-down menu to select an option.

 

10. If applicable, click on the Add Relationship button.

 

Note: Repeat steps 8 through 10 to add as many alias relationships as necessary.

 

All added alias relationships will display in the Current Relationships grid. Click on the Delete icon to remove an alias relationship.

 

11. Click on the Save button to add the dictionary item or click on the Cancel button to cancel the create dictionary item process.
