WHMIS Overview:

The WHMIS module allows you to create a WHMIS training program that can be accessed through the K212 Portal.

WHMIS Functionality:

• Principals can run the WHMIS Employee Report to determine the status of each employee based on the criteria entered.

• Employees use the WHMIS Employee link to access the training material. They must spend 5 minutes on each module the first time, before moving onto the next. If they try to move to the next module before the 5 minutes is completed a message will appear stating that they must wait until the designated time has elapsed before going to the next module.

• If an employee finished reading module 1 and 2 then sign off from the portal; the next time the employee logs in, they will be redirected to the next module, which is module 3

• Once each module is complete, the employee must answer the 20 random questions. For any questions that are answered incorrectly, the employee will be taken back to the correct module for review but this time there will be no time limit of 5 minutes for each module. Once they have completed the review, the incorrect questions will be provided to be answered again. This process will continue until all questions are answered correctly.

• Once all questions are answered correctly, a certificate will appear for the employee to print out.

• The WHMIS modules in K212 portal can be closed or re-open by assigning each of the groups/users to have read access or no access.  If that group/user does not have access to the WHMIS modules in K212 Portal, then when that user logs in to the K212 portal, the user will not see the link on the left hand side of the page (Quick Launch).
